Reserves of some crop-plants are lower in USA than expected

Reserves of some main agricultural crop-plants are lower in the United States than it was expected. An updated report of American Ministry of Agriculture which could according to analysts contribute to a price shock showed it. The situation is worsened by floods in Australia which is a crucial producer of many crop-plants. Owing to floods, the country closed main export ports. The ground for fears in the USA is above all reserves of soya beans and corn.

Amendment of act on phytosanitary care should secure compatibility with EU regulations and remove useless bureaucracy

The government passed a draft law on phytosanitary care on Wednesday. The main sense of the amendment was to leave out provisions of their parts newly adjusted by directly usable regulation of the European Union. The amendment is another contribution in fight against useless and rampant bureaucracy. “The aim of amendment is to leave out those provisions from the law on phytosanitary care which are newly adjusted by directly usable regulation of the European Union. It will also ease orientation of users in the law and will complete needed competences of the Ministry of Agriculture and the State Phytosanitary Administration”, the Minister Ivan Fuksa summarizes principles of the amendment.

Babiččiny nudle has European trademark but not Czech one

A firm in České Budějovice, Babiččiny nudle, has strived for a registration of word trademark for its pastries already for more than five years. The Czech Patent Office refused to register the trademark. The firm applied to the Prague city court for it a year ago and now it waits for a verdict. During this time, the firm lost several tens of millions of crowns and will claim damages from the state. A co-owner of the firm, Martin Pražák, said it to ČTK. Nevertheless, the trademark Babiččiny nudle was registered by the European Patent Office a year ago.

Measures against price rise in China

Chinese government implements measures against a gradual rise in prices and decrease in level of living. Only in foods, an increase by 10 % was recorded in October against the foregoing month. Among others the government plans reduction of speculation in foods. Nevertheless, both the sharper check and hard sanctions have to play a role. Furthermore, Chinese bank supervision imposed banks to simplify provision of credits to farmers which should help to revive food production. Moreover, since the 1st of December, a road-toll has decreased for vehicles which transport agricultural production. In a background of his development there is an increase of demand for meat, poultry and milk products bringing a higher standard of living.
