Europe wants to recycle more waste

Most of member states of the European Union produces still more and more waste. However, thanks to a high decrease in France, Poland, Romania, and Sweden the total waste production average in the Union decreased almost by 10 % between 2006 and 2008. Is it because of an economic crisis, a change of reporting duties, or a measure against the waste creation itself? An evaluation report of the European Union deals with it, too. It refers to a progress as well as insufficiencies of European of waste treatment policy.

How much we will pay this year? Milk will rise in price, meat prices fall

Milk products lovers have to prepare for that they will dig down. Milk from producers rose in price almost by fifth last year and will rise on. Vice versa, prices of pig meat as well as of chicken decreases. It results from an inquiry realized by the server Lidovky.cz among processors. According to the Czech Statistic Office, during the last quarter of last year, prices of agricultural milk producers increased by 25.7 percents and experts count on further increase. Year-on-yearly the prices have increased by 18.6 percents to 7.35 CZK/l (whereas they were on the maximum 7.98 CZK/l in December).

Lesy ČR had gross profit 3.07 billion CZK last year

The State enterprise Lesy České republiky (LČR) had a record profit over last year 3.07 billion crowns before taxation, an audit, and corrective items. A director of the company Svatopluk Sýkora said it in Rádio Česko today. He added that this year the firm expects a profit minimally the same as last year. The year before last the gross profit amounted to 784 million crowns. Sýkora told that the last year´s profit was created from 70 percent by the main firm activity. “Partly, prices on the market work positively for us, and partly we save where it was possible. We used a purchase management system and we changed completely a philosophy and consequences of the company management”, Sýkora added.

Delivery of dangerous jelly cups from Vietnam was stopped on borders

The State Agricultural and Food Inspection (SZIP) focuses its checks also on imports of foods from third countries. Thanks to these checks deliveries of risky foods are successfully revealed just before their introduction on the domestic market. This happened also in case of a delivery of 72 kg of jelly confectionaries to which the inspectors´ attention was drawn by the Custom Office in Karlovy Vary. It was dealt with jelly bonbons in shape of small cups containing an additive konjak (E 425). The European Commission forbade import of jelly bonbons containing this additive and bringing them on the market on the EU territory already in 2000 regarding to a possible danger for human health.
