Concentrated and mutual support can help to promote high-quality foods, whether it is from any competition in region

The Ministry of Agriculture, at a negotiation with representatives of regions and the Food Chamber and the Agrarian Chamber of the CR on Tuesday, concretized possible forms of mutual support of a project “Regional food” and other competitions which evaluate high-quality foods in particular regions. It can be dealt for example with a synergy of some marketing tools or a common announcement of results which can be in this way simpler and cheaper from organization point of view.

Chamber of Deputies supported creation of time limit for clarification of land ownership

The Chamber of Deputies supported a senate proposal in the first round for introduction of time limit in which people can ask a court for clarification of land ownership in restitution contentions. It should concern those whom a land office did not recognize their proprietary claim to land. They should claim a change of the verdict at a court by the end of 2012 at the latest. Now, the senate amendment of act on land, which should come in force from July next year, will be discussed before a next approval by the Agricultural Committee of the Lower House of Parliament. The government supported the proposal only with technical remarks regarding transitoriness of the amendment.

CSO: Numbers of pigs and cattle still decreased last year to multiyear minima

Numbers of pigs decreased year-on-yearly by 3.5 percents to 1.84 million pieces in the Czech Republic, they were so lowly last time in 1946. Numbers of cattle decreased to the last year´s end by 2.7 percents to 1.32 million which was the lowest since the beginning of 20´s of the last century from where the oldest freely accessible statistic data originate. Vice versa, numbers of poultry increased by a half of percent to 24 million pieces last year. It results from information published by the Czech Statistic Office (SCO).

Thirsty China comes in French vineyards. It purchases property in Bordeaux

China does not buy only land but also culture and expert knowledge of the famous viticultural area, local people state. A group Cofco, the biggest Chinese agricultural conglomerate owned by the state has bought a twenty-hectare piece of land in the French viticultural region Bordeaux. However, this business, whose price is not known, is not the first of its kind. China, which took the primacy to Great Britain and Germany as the biggest export markets for Bordeax wines, gradually collects resources how not only to consume the wines but also to produce them.
