Meat sellers from Czech Republic will be on internet

Where you can buy Czech pig meat? People can get to know it in a new internet database prepared by the Agrarian Chamber. The ACH plans an internet database of sellers of Czech meat. A president of the Agrarian Chamber, Jan Veleba, said it to journalists today. According to him this regularly updated list should support meat sale from Czech farms. According to experts, country of origin marking of meat is unreliable and consumers do not have certainty that they bought really Czech food in a shop. The discussion about marking of imported foods was stirred by a n affair at a beginning of the year when tests showed presence of carcinogenic dioxin in pig meat from German farms.

Kocourek will recommend government to cancel law on significant market power

The Minister of Industry and Trade (MIT) Martin Kocourek will recommend the government to cancel the law on significant market power today. It governs relations between traders and suppliers since last year´s February. According to the Minister of Industry and Trade, the law could expire in the thirds quarter of this year; Kocourek will suggest including some of its parts in other laws. A spokesman of MIT Pavel Vlček said it to ČTK today. The law on significant market power was elaborated by a group of ČSSD representatives and was supported by the Food Chamber. Traders criticize the law and claim that it is of poor quality and that it harmed their relations with suppliers.

Deficit of agrarian trade last year was second highest in history

A deficit of agrarian foreign trade of the Czech Republic, according to preliminary results, deepened by 1.6 billion to 33.6 billion crowns last year and was the second highest in the history. Agricultural products and foods export increased by more than five billion crowns. Goods for record 140.6 billion CZK was imported. It results from data provided by the Agricultural Union of the CR to ČTK; numbers stem from custom statistics of the Czech Statistic Office. The agrarian balance is negative continuously since 1993, it had been positive by that time. It was the worst in 2006; the agri-food foreign trade of the Czech Republic ended with a deficit more than 34 billion crowns at that time.

Agrarian markets remain quiescent at present

Commontion in Egypt have not negatively influenced German agrarian markets yet. However, the biggest wheat importer in the world remains with a risk for tradesmen. According to information of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, German association Raiffeisen (DRV), the Federal Agricultural Industry and Trade Union (BVA) and the Dairy Industry Union (MIV), any pieces of information appeared from the side of companies about disturbance of goods movement with Egypt last week. In 2009, according to reports from the department, German wheat supplies in Egypt reached a volume in a value about 32.2 mil. €.
