MA wants to create code for functioning of farmer market

The Ministry of Agriculture (MA) wants together with organizers of farmer markets to create a code for their functioning. Opened negotiations were confirmed to ČTK by an office, organizers of markets as well as farmers. A consumer who will buy a food on a market place marked as “farmer” in the future should gain a guarantee of domestic origin and freshness of the bought product. Markets on which farmers or small food producers offer their goods became a hit of the last year.

Chamber of Deputies passed this year´s budget of Land Fund

The Chamber of Deputies passed a budget of the Land Fund of the CR for this year. The budget counts on total Fund incomes 1.66 billion crowns and expenditures 1.63 billion crowns. According to presumptions, it should sell 27 000 hectares of land this year. The Funds is about to release 75 people owing to savings. LF administers among others also state agricultural realties and gives over compensatory parcels to restituents.

Bad crop in China will push food prices dangerously high

An unusual drought in eight biggest grain provinces of China will damage as many as 35 percents of spring wheat crop. Chinese Ministry of Agriculture announced it. According to the ministry, the unusual drought will affect the crucial spring period of wheat growth on 6,4 million hectares. There is a threat that the bad crop in China will increase a pressure on continuously growing foods prices which are the highest over the last 21 years now. The United Nation Organization (UNO) warned on Wednesday that the drought tormenting northern Chinese provinces can develop in a serious problem with a huge impact on food prices.

Pig meat of highest quality grows on bio-foods at Jihlava

An owner of a biofarm Sasov, Josef Sklenář, as the only bio-breeder inland together with the Food Research Institute with support of the Ministry of Agriculture started an experiment with animal breeding in the open air at free pasturage. Tens of black-pied pigs enjoy high-quality feed in bio quality and freedom in a stabling of the biofarm Sasov in the very south edge of Jihlava. Any time they like they can frisk in the open air and turn back in warm stable. It has been even recently shared in two groups by 50 pieces of Přeštice black-pied pig.
