Fuksa: State has 1.3 bil. for payment evening-up, sum can rise

The Ministry of Agriculture has currently at disposal for evening-up of direct payments to farmers1.3 billion crowns this year. The Minister of Agriculture Ivan Fuksa said it at a meeting of the Agrarian Chamber (ACH) today. According to him, the sum can rise by other hundreds of millions throughout the year. Subsidies start to pay off at its close. Farmers announced in November last year that the want from the state at least a half of 4.8 billion crowns to which they have a right this year according to agreements signed before the CR accession into the EU. However, the state budget had a zero for evening-up of payments. ČTK is searching for an expression of ACH.

FAO: World food prices increased to new record in February

The world food prices grew on last month. The Food and Agriculture Organization of UNO announced today that its food price index climbed on a new record maximum in February. It warned, too, that the steep oil price growth could lead to further rise in food prices. The index which monitors monthly price changes in a food basket composed of cereals, oil plants, milk products, meat, and sugar, reached 236 points in February. It has increased by 2.2 percents from January record maximum and recorded already the eight month-on-month increase in sequence, an agency Reuters wrote.

Vine-growers mark up by as many as ten percents owing to bad crop last year

A bad crop last year and low yields mark up domestic wines. Experts interviewed by ČTK in framework of fair trade Vinex agreed on it. Some firms as Bohemia sekt, Znovín, and Templářské sklepy Čejkovice have already raised prices of their wines. At average the price growth will move about ten percents. According to a director of Viticultural Fund, Jaroslav Machovec, in particular vine-growers who supply the market on a large scale mark up. “A situation in smaller firms will be different. Who will not mark up will have to decrease margins. The price increase will not balance losses”, Machovec stated.

Agrarina Chamber will be led by Veleba in three next years

The Agrarian Chamber (ACH) will be let in following three year by its present president Jan Veleba. Already for the third time in sequence he was elected to office at ACH meeting in Olomouc today. Sixty three-year Veleba stay in head of the Chamber since 2005. Veleba was the only candidate was elected by 84 percents of votes of almost two hundred of voting participants of the meeting. “The main priority will be to negotiate as best conditions for Czech farmers in framework of a reform of the Common Agricultural Policy after 2013 as possible”, Veleba stated.
