Youth want carry business in agriculture, subsidy will help
More than half of people working in agriculture are more than 45 years old. It is dealt with an area where the average age is very high. European endowment programmes and also government support and the Young Agrarians Association should change this state gradually. “The Czech Republic has a long-term agricultural tradition and we strive to maintain this branch among youth and mainly to offer them suitable conditions. The support of young farmers was considered as priority already in the period of foregoing government.
Chamber of Deputies supported easier domestic cattle slaughterings
There is a new chance for breeders that they will be allowed to slaughter on their farms cattle younger than two years and deer game from farm breeding. These animals have to wander owing to slaughter to a slaughter-house. Farmers could kill them on their farms only if the meat was determined for their own consumption. The change is brought by an amendment of the law on veterinary care discussed in the first hearing by the Chamber of Deputies. According to a proposal, a breeder will have to report every home slaughtering of these animals to a regional veterinary administration seven days in advance.
By eyes of eco-farmers: They would buy neither meat nor vegetable in hypermarket. They are able to produce their own.
Cheaply and quickly or slowly and in a natural way? Organic farmers certainly do not break records in the amount of made products. As ones of the few they inspire themselves by agriculture of our predecessors which declines slowly under pressure of chain stores. However, eco-farmers, according to their words, have another trump in sleeve - a veneration of laws of the nature. Other episode of programme Náš venkov (our countryside) on Czech Television looks at the world through an eco-farmer´s eyes and Bio-info.cz recommends it warmly.
