Drought and black frost: farmers count damages on fields

February and March black frosts subscribed to winter crops. Above all, rape growths are worst off. Now, rape almost disappeared from fields; farmers decide what to do with the areas. They will liquidate almost a third of areas under crop somewhere, Of course, it means no small losses and other costs for new sowing of the fields. For the first two months, the course of winter was ideal. A high layer of snow lay on fields. When snow melted in January, fields grew green. Following black frosts caused that rape froze out and it that did not freeze out dried up gradually.

Six organization ask MZe for postponement of putting up LČR tenders to June

Six organizations, predominantly from the environment of wood-processing industry and forestry called in a letter upon the Minister of Agriculture Ivan Fuksa (ODS) to postpone putting up of a large tender for works in state forests in 2012 to June. According to Fuksa it should be put up vice versa already by March end. Signatories of the letter also require an urgent opening of discussion on impacts of a long-term economic conception of the state enterprise Lesy České republiky, so called Wooden book, on base of which the tenders should be put up, on the forestry-wooden sector.

Apple import in CR record-breaking last year, apple growing in danger of bankruptcy

The import of market apples in the Czech Republic increased by 28 percents to record-breaking 79 430 tonnes last year. Apple imporst have significantly increased in recent five years and the last year confirmed this trend. According to fruit-growers, the branch of apple growing in the CR loses competitiveness and is in danger of bankruptcy. Martin Ludvík, a chairman of the Fruit-Growing Union of the CR said it to ČTK

Court will again hear appeal in cause of sale of reputedly bad meat

The Municipal Court in Prague will again deal with a case of sale of reputedly bad meat in a shop Hypernova in Prague part Nové Butovice. The Circuit Court for Prague 5 already twice discharged Jiří Kaleš, Jiřina Šajánková, and Petr Voráček who according to a public prosecutor manipulated repeatedly with expiration date of meat and meat products in 2005. In case of proving guilt they are under threat of as many as two years of jail for threatening health with objectionable foods.
