Conclusions of Presidency to CAP future have been supported by qualified most of member states including Czech Republic

The final text of Conclusions to a future form of the Common Agrarian Policy reflects crucial topics like a refusal of business discrimination on base of their size; an achievement of fair conditions in framework of the pillar I, and further a removal of historical references. The conclusions, supported by the qualified most of member states, represent an acceptable compromise also for the Czech Republic.

Farmers have started to sow

Minimally ten days earlier against last year farmers in Litoměřice region have started to sow spring crops. Warmer weather in recent days allowed them to turn to sow spring barley and other crops. “Except barley we sow peas and spinach. We have already sown in fact; we would need rainfalls now”, Jan Jenčík, a main agronomist of Bohušovice Agrokomplex says. He grows vegetable on seven hundred hectares in surrounding of Bohušovice, Prosmyky and Mlékojedy.

European farmers deny liberalization of trade between EU and federation of countries MERCOSUR

The Council of ministers of agriculture negotiated also about further liberalization of trade between the EU and a federation of countries MERCOSUR. European farmers associated in the COPA/COGECA opposed sharply this step. The COPA/COGECA warns in its release that costs connected with liberalization of trade with beef meat would reach a height 25 bil. EUR. Already requirement of MERCOSUR from 2006 caused losses in height 9 bil. EUR. For example production costs for production of beef meat in Brazil reach 81 bil. EUR/100 kg of living weight which is about 1/3 of costs for production in Italy - 233 EUR/100 kg.

ČMSM: Increase of VAT in foods will endanger domestic farmers and dairy men

An increase of value added tax rate (VAT) in foods and by this forced rise in prices would further increase import of milk products in the CR and thereby endanger Czech farmers, dairy men and connected branches. The Bohemian-Moravian Dairy Industry Union (ČMSM) stated it in a press release on Thursday. According the Union, the rise in food prices can negatively affect the health state of domestic population.
