Struggle for milk starts; dairy works play tug-of-war for it

The milk crisis in 2009 was only a top of situation in dairy cow breeding. Numbers of them have decreased radically in the region Rakovník, too. Družstvo vlastníků Agro Malinová (coop of owners) supplied milk in a dairy work for 8.04 crowns for liter by means of Mlékařské družstvo Kralovice (coop) in January this year. Though it is one of the lowest process (Madeta gives 8.40 for one liter; Sedlčany 8.27 CZK), for suppliers it means a slight improvement.

Every fourth field agaric in EU is grown in Poland

In Poland, quarter a million tonnes of field agarics grew last year. According to a chief of the Mushroom Growers Union, Krystian Szudyg, it represents more than six-percent increase against 2009 when Poles supplied 235 thousand tones of white mushrooms on the market. EU states grow one million tones of field agaric annually. For a long time, the Netherland was the biggest growers. Still in 2000, 275 thousand tones of mushrooms grew there, however, in 2008, The Dutch produced only 255 thousand tonnes.

Farmers look forward to good harvest

This year´s winter has not caused anyhow serious damaged to fruit growers. Meanwhile, farmers are satisfied, too. Frost and drought, this year´s winter weather mostly looked like so. Despite this, fields are relatively well irrigated. Recent rains with quite high spring temperatures contributed to it. Therefore, farmers are predicting a good harvest.

Agricultural Committee suggest release of land to foreighners

The Parliamentary Agricultural Committee suggested the Chamber of Deputies today approving an amendment of foreign exchange act which should enable foreigners to purchase agricultural land including forest in the Czech Republic. The Committee in an accompanying resolution asked the Minister of Agriculture Ivan Fuksa (ODS) so that he would inform them about the state of sale of state agricultural land and a volume of blocked parcels as state reserves, namely regarding reparcelling. A vice-chairman of the Committee, Jiří Papež (ODS) said it to ČTK.
