Export of Madeta decreased last year; in milk it was by third

Export of South-Bohemian Madeta, Czech biggest milk processer decreased last year. Milk export lowered roughly by a third. The lower export share last year was influenced mainly by a loss of raw material at April beginning, a spokeswoman of Madeta, Barbora Daňková said to ČTK. The dairy works lost milk supplies from Mlékárenské družstvo Jih in the spring last year; it reduced them by 200 000 liters daily to roughly 330 000 liters. The firms did not agree on milk price that time.

Fine for agricultural cooperative Agroholding holds, court decided

A fine of 10 000 crowns for the agricultural cooperative Agroholding, imposed to the firm by the State Agricultural and Food Inspection (SZIP) owing to marketing of foods with lapsed expiration date and other detected irregularity, is valid. The Regional Court in Brno resolved it last week. ČTK found it out on its web sites. The judgement is not final; the agricultural cooperative can file a cassation appeal at the Supreme Administrative Court.

Foods imported from Japan in Czech Republic are under thorough check

Czech import authorities started checking foods imported from Japan already last week. They want to rebut any suspicion that dangerous goods can get to us from regions neat the nuclear power station Fukushima. According to actual information of the State Veterinary Administration and the State Agricultural and Food Inspection, everything is all right. The European Union ordered to member states to check more severely deliveries of plant and animal origin coming from Japan.

European Commission could allow other three GM varieties

Newly the EU market could invite lines of corn MON89034 x MON88017 and cotton seeds GHB614. Nothing is hindering to a licence of other three genetically modified organisms for import as a feed and a food - ministers of agriculture of the EU countries could not in needed majority agree neither for nor against a licence at their meeting in Brussels last Thursday according to expectation. Only Ireland changed its approach. Its new coalition composed of Christian and social democrats polled for the licence.
