Organic farmers are for consistent keeping of principles of preliminary caution towards GMO

Organic farmers are afraid of a possible enlargement of growing of genetically modified crops. According to the newest reports, apparently the European Commission could allow other three GM (lines of corn MON89034 x MON88017 and cotton seed GHB614) as feed and a food. “Enlargement of genetically modified crop-plants endangers subsistence of organic farmers. All the risk resulting from a contamination of bio-production with genetically modified crop-plants from foreign parcels is just on the side of organic farmers”, a chairman of PRO-BIO Organic Farmers Union Zdeněk Perlinger stated.

45 mil. ha of land bought up in 2009

Bulk buying of agriculturally used areas grows in skyrocketing pace. According to data of the World Bank, 45 mil. ha was bought up in the world in 2009. Therefore in October last year on the occasion of meeting of the Committee for World Food Safety acting under the FAO, small producers met in Roma to call upon international communities to stop these practices.

More than fifth of total volume of fish sold in Czech Republic is sold at Easter

Do you want to start bee-keeping and you do not have enough money for purchase of beehives and bees? You can ask for money the Regional Office of Olomouc region this year. It allots this year again contributions among both the starting and current bee-keepers and to support their work in this way. Therefore it earmarked four thousand crowns from a budget. The region did not allot subsidies for bee-keeping last year because the bee infection, varroasis, raged in the Central and North Moravia.
