Agrofert Holding bought companies Animalco and Procházka holding

The company Agrofert Holding owned by an entrepreneur Andrej Babiš has bought firms Animalco and Procházka holding which are significant players in domestic meat industry. ČTK was acquainted with it by the management of Agrofert Holding, it did not mentioned the transaction value. Both the fusions were allowed by the Office for the Protection of Competition in January this year. According to the Office, both acquisitions will not affect the economic competition especially regarding a relatively low increase of market share of Agrofert.

Ivan Fuksa is a man to the fore

Although the Agrarian Chamber is a non-political profession organization, we very carefully watch the course of events connected with a political development and certain efforts for reorganization of Czech government. At this - for us crucial time when it is being decided in the EU, of which we are a part, on a final form of the Common Agrarian Policy reform, we very care maintenance of continuity in negotiation on behalf of our party. It is dealt with enforcement of advantageous conditions for Czech farmers who have been discriminated till this time.

Czech love domestic vegetable, beware of cheaters

The Czechs probably taste again vegetable grown on domestic land. At least it is an opinion of the Czech and Moravian Vegetable Union according to which the same area of fields as last year is under vegetable. So, a trend from last year when farmers rather reduced vegetable growing owing to a lack of demand has stopped. Hereat, the most demanded are the kinds which do not require complicated kitchen treatment. “People devote less time to cooking than before therefore demand for kohlrabi, radishes, peppers, asparagus, lettuce and tomatoes is growing.”

Hugo Jelínek opened with his inventions new sugar production stage

Czech industrialist Hugo Jelínek, since his death 110 years will have passed on the April 10, opened with his inventions a new stage of sugar production technology. His ways of beet juice refinement, so called saturation, as well as other inventions lead to improvement of sugar quality and celebrated a success all over Europe. Jelínek was born on the 31st of March, 1834 in Loket in a family of builder and studied engineering in Prague. He started his professional career in a sugar refinery in Křimice and he introduced his way of beet juice refinement in a sugar refinery in Vysočany.
