Lesy ČR: Black dumps still represent big problem in our forests

Lesy ČR in administration of state forests has to still cope up with a relatively big amount of black dumps which are founded in forests by undisciplined individuals. They are not aware at all of how they harm forests, the nature and the environment. In 2010, Lesy ČR registered 830 black dumps in total; their whole area would reach an acreage of almost 5,4 hectars. Costs for liquidation exceed one million crowns, however, this sum will be increased because the liquidation of detected cases still continue. “A view of polluted forest areas is really sad. It is unbelievable how a still relatively large amount of people are neglectful of the state of our forest and nature”, Jaroslav Zezula, a chief of department of property and investment of Lesy ČR states for explanation.

Company Agro Otročín ha started to supply all milk in bio-quality

The agricultural company Agro Otročín, which farms on roughly 2000 hectares in the area of Toužim, has started to supply all milk production in bio-quality since January. About 400 dairy cows produce yearly approximately 2,2 million liters. Compared to prices for the standard milk Agrou should gain for one liter of bio-milk one crown in addition. An exclusive customer is a firm Hollandia Krásné Údolí in the region Karlovy Vary which processes the milk from Otročín mainly in yoghurts. A director of Agro, František Urik, said to ČTK. According to Urik, meeting of conditions to obtain a certificate of bio-quality milk was demanding and its validity is always one year.

Academicians: Not cut down in first zones of Šumava

Also the Academy of Sciences of the CR has joined a pointed discussion about Šumava. Naturalists claim that Stránský´s plans are in European conditions absolutely substandard intervention in the national park. Šumava is in Europe protected locality of the network Natura and the Czech Republic could be under threat of EU sanction for impetuousness. According to the scientists it is necessary to protect undisturbed natural areas in Šumava as a part of natural heritage and unique bindings among local organisms should not be disturbed. Shortly, forests in protected areas should not be taken as agricultural forests.

At asparagus festival, chefs will cook right on field

Asparagus, a kind of vegetable whose favour has grown recently in restaurants according to some chefs, will have its own festival in Hostín near Vojkovice in the region Mělník the weekend. Visitors will be able not only to buy asparagus but also to taste many samples of cold and hot meals prepared from this vegetable. A chef Jaroslav Sapík, an organizer said it to ČTK. He was just who bring the idea to organize the first year of Czech asparagus festival and to show to people how to prepare a delicacy from this vegetable. The event is organized by the Czechoslovak Cook Union together with Netherlandish firm Bohaemer Spargel Kultur which grows asparagus on fields round Hostýn near Vojkovice. “People learn slowly to eat asparagus. It would be a pity not to know that asparagus is grown in the region Mělník and that they can buy it fresh there. We would like to draw their attention to it”, Sapík added.
