World Bank warns that food prices are nearby maximums from 2008

The World Bank warned that higher global food prices and energies have impact on more countries that at this year´s beginning. For this reason poverty endangers more people. Agencies Reuters and Bloomerg informed about it. “More poor people suffer and more people fell in poverty owing to high and unsteady food prices”, a chief of WB Robert Zoellick told.

Minister Fuksa enlarged coalition for support of freshwater fishery

The minister Ivan Fuksa enlarges successfully a coalition on European front to a bigger financial support for freshwater fishermen. The support to a declaration of five inland states to a freshwater aquaculture, initiated by the minister Fuksa, was expressed by other twelve member states today in Luxembourg, altogether those which deal above all with sea fishing. Among theme there were even such fishing powers as France and Spain. A commissioner for fishery, Maria Damanaki marked it as an activity which comes in good time and is fully supported by the Commission.

Latvia still may restrict agricultural land trade

The European Commission has extended a validity of transient regime which restricts sale of agricultural land to foreigners till the end of April 2014. Latvia may interpose considerable obstructions in a way to foreigners in purchase of agricultural areas even in the future. The European Commission has extended a validity of temporary provision which should protect Latvian agriculture against sell-out till the 30th of April, 2014.

False farmers appear on market places

With coming of spring season, new farmer market places arise in Czech and Moravian towns. They become very popular among consumers. People want to buy vegetable, fruit, eggs and meat right from domestic growers and breeders. However, farmers warn against false farmers who buy their products in wholesales and parade them as their own production.
