Municipalities disagree with changes in programme Green to savings

The Council of Union of Towns and Municipalities of the CR (SMO) disagree fundamentally with a decision of the Ministry of Environment to change a programme for support of heat cladding of buildings and ecological heating Green to savings so that they will not provide subsidies for public buildings. Therefore, municipalities want to gain money from the Operational Programme Environment as soon as possible. The minister Tomáš Chalupa (ODS) stated on Wednesday hat almost eight billion crowns are missing in the programme.

Chalupa allowed hand-cutting trees in valuable parts of Šumava

In parts of the most valuable protected ones of Šumava it will be allowed to cut trees, but only manually with power-saw. The Minister of Environment Tomáš Chalupa (ODS) has decided in the connection with wood engraver occurrence in forests of the national park. Cut wood will have to stay to rot in the first zones. The minister said to journalists today that he had forbidden any aerial spraying on all the park territory and a use of biocidal substances n the 1st zones. Peat-bogs should stay without interventions to preserve self-development. According to Stráský, the decision came too late for a part of the park.

Closely watched eggs: It is investigated what is under shell

Now, it is the most watched food. Not only Czech veterinarians but also German conservationists engaged in checks of egg heading on Easter markets. Local Greenpeace have found out that a big part of eggs comes from hens fed by genetically modified soya. Nevertheless, customers will get to know from egg packages.

World food prices decreased

World food prices have decreased. FAO food price index has gone down for the first time after eight months in sequence. In March 2011, the index reached at average 230 points which meant a decrease by 2,9 percents in comparison with February maximum, however they still move by 37 % above the March 2010 level. The world oils prices have gone down the most (by 7 %) and the world sugar prices (by 10 %), followed by cereals (by 2,6 %). Vice versa, in milk products and meat a marginal price growth has happened.
