First apicultural arboretum will be opened in Hodonín region in Moravia

An apicultural arboretum will be opened in Lužice in Hodonín region in the second half of June. A new apicultural garden, which intends to acquaint the wide public with bee-keeping in a popular way, will be the first of its kind in Moravia. A vice-chief magistrate of Lužice Jana Ambrožová informed ČTK about it. According to her, the project arose thanks to a local bee-keeping organization and the municipality Lužice in cooperation with a primary school and the movement Brontosaurus.

Czech Republic succeeded to prevent billion sanctions for breach of GAEC standards in period 2006-2008; however, there is still threat of fine 180 million crowns

The Czech Republic has succeeded to avert a threat of billion sanctions for inadequacies on keeping of so called standards of Good Agricultural and Environmental Conditions (GAEC). A fine in the amount of 180 million crowns, which the European Commission proposes for the Czech Republic, is thanks to intensive work and diplomatic negotiations at a bottom border of possible range. At the same time the CR can take it as an obligation to set conditions in the following periods and keep an eye on their keeping so that they would better correspond with the EU requirements, and especially so that they would really effectively protect agricultural land.

Numbers of poultry went down again in region Olomouc year-on-yearly

Numbers of poultry have again decreased in the region Olomouc. While at the beginning of April last year farmers in this region raised 424 019 pieces of poultry, this year on the same date the number amounted to 380 585 pc which represents year-on-year decrease by 10.2 percents It results from data of the Czech Statistic Office. According to experts, farmers reduce numbers of poultry for the reason of non-profitability.

Slight fall of milk prices of EU markets

Average milk prices have no more increased in decisive dairy works in the EU at the spring beginning which impacted unfavourably on development in milk production branch in important EU member states. The average milk price, reckoned by Netherlandish Farmer Union (LTO) on base of prices paid off by 16 large milk producers in northern and central Europe, in comparison with the foregoing month decreased by 0.43 cents, so by 1.3 % to 33.16 ct/kg in March 2011. However, in comparison with the same period in the last year the price has gone up by more than 21 % (in count on fat content 4.2 % and proteins 3,4 %).
