End of limitation of land sale to foreigners. Perhaps, Senate will brake

The senate Agricultural Committee has refused a government amendment which should cancel a limitation of sale of agricultural land, forests and other estates in the CR to foreigners. The opposition minds that the cancellation is without an adjustment of conditions of land management. The ban of land sale was negotiated by the Czech Republic within the accession into the EU seven years ago; this exception run out at this May beginning. If the Senate identifies with the attitude of its committee, the adoption of amendment will be put behind at least.

Czech Republic signed two protocols to Carpathian Convention

The Czech Republic has become a signatory of the Protocol on Sustainable Tourism and the Protocol on Sustainable Forest Management to the International Agreement for the Sustainable Management of Carpathian Forests. So called Carpathian Convention, which came into operation generally also for the CR on the January 4, 2006, has already had three protocols. By means of gradually negotiated protocols, generally formulated obligations of the Carpathian Convention are concretized because it is dealt with a general agreement focused on a wide range of topics connected with sustainable development of Carpathian region, whose aim is to improve the quality of life, to strengthen local economy and community, and to protect natural values and cultural heritage of the region.

Bee plague attacks Klatovy region

Beehives, bee colonies, and equipment, which gotten into the touch with infected bees, have to be burnt. Malign bee plague has again appeared and bee-keepers in the region Klatovy, Domažlice and south Pilsen region worry again. They are afraid of a spread of the disease in other areas. “Bee-keepers already know what will happen in places where the infection appeared. The region Klatovy was the worst at the number of proven centers of bee larvae plague in recent years. Fortunately, a year ago the state got settled and the situation improved significantly. Despite the fact, one centers of infection appeared in the cadastre of municipality Zbynice this year”, a deputy headmaster of the Regional Veterinary Administration Pilsen, Václav Poláček informed.

FCH: Pressure on low food prices has to prove itself in their quality

A businessmen pressure on low food prices has to show itself in their quality. A president of the Food Chamber Miroslav Toman said it to journalists today. At the same time he supported a statement of Slovakian Consumer Assocition from the last week according to which food supplied by supranational corporations on markets of post-communistic countries are of lower quality than products of the same marks sold in the rest of continent.
