Interest in bio-foods grows, unfortunately in negative way
Eco-farmers are sick of development of the present situation, mainly of some articles and commentaries which appear in the last days and expressed their opinions to bio-foods, and consider legal steps for protection of the entire bio-sector. “In my opinion it is incredible and scandalous. What I read in Saturday´s newspapers does not definitely underwhelm me. I do not know what was the order for this anti-campaign but it is poor and mainly mendacious”.
EC wants 210 million Euros for farmer compensation owing to bacteria
The European Commission wants to release 210 million Euros for compensation of vegetable producers owing to impacts of spread of the dangerous bacteria. Originally it proposed 150 million Euros. The Euro-commissioner for agriculture Dacian Ciolos told it today. The increase of originally proposed sum happened thanks to a call upon the EC by ministers of agriculture of the EU countries at an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday. The commissioner pointed out that according to the Commission proposal the compensation should concern producers of tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce on which already the older proposal counted, and newly also producers of peppers and courgettes.
By change of law on Land Fund Ministry of Agriculture will acquire more money for Czech farmers
The Cabinet approved an amendment of act on the Land Fund of the CR submitted by the Minister of Agriculture Ivan Fuksa. An aim of the amendment is to use means of the Land Fund and to secure in this way 560 million crowns in total for co-financing of the Rural Development Plan in the period 2007 - 2013, and 540 million crowns for national endowment programmes from non-budget resources. The Ministry of Agriculture strives for a long time for equal conditions for Czech farmers and farmers from other, especially older EU member countries.
Bio-food production is again in journalists´ hands or new opportunity to clear up real bio-foods situation
On the 4th of June, Mladá Fronta Dnes issued an earlier discussed article “Without chemicals but with parasites. Bio does not equal healthy” which offer a reader a completely distorted look at bio-foods, extracted from context, where the opinion of author without any knowledge of rules of agricultural basic industry intimidates consumers by an infection and parasites, even with a death after bio-food consummation. We would like to clear up now the untrue information resulting from this article, and to settle this issue.
