Estimation of global cereal harvest was slightly decreased
The International Grains Council (IGC) decreased its prognosis of the world wheat harvest in 2011 against the last month by 1 mil. t to 672 mil. t. However, it would still be by 22 mil. t more than in the foregoing year and it would be death with the third highest wheat harvest in the history. But, IGC points out that there is a significant rainfall deficit both in the EU and some areas of the USA and China. IGC expects a global demand for wheat also to 672 mil. t which is by 10 mil. t more than in the foregoing year.
CSO: Price of apples has risen; peppers have significantly decreased in price
In Czech shops throughout the last four weeks, price of apples has risen the most. Customers paid for them at average almost by eight percents more. Vice versa, they could buy significantly cheaper tomatoes, bananas and peppers whose prices have decreased by more than 41 percents. It results from data published by the Czech Statistic Office (CSO) today. Price of apples has risen by more than two crowns to average 32.37 crowns for kilogram. Also ham salami has risen in price, by more than six crowns to 118.68 CZK.
Prices of agricultural commodities will grow in this decade
Prices of agricultural commodities will grow in the period 2011 to 2020 in comparison with the foregoing decade. The reason is a growing demand for foods and fuels and increase in energy costs. However, prices of the main agricultural commodities should not increase to records from recent time because the intensive rise in prices invoked also rise in production. It results from a report published by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UNO.
Vegetable remains to be popular
Every farmer is at the same time also a consumer, therefore a web portal agrarheute.com decided to find out whether the occurrence of serious enteric diseases caused by enterohemorrhagic E. coli had influenced consumer behavious of the farmers. The most of them answered that not. Diarrhoea, sickness, vomiting and bellyache to a kidney failure, anemia and thrombocytopenia - the symptoms of enterohemorrhagic E. coli infection. The inquiry had the aim to map how much dangerous consumers themselves consider the situation.
