Farmers in Central Bohemia expect average yields this year
Harvest starts fully in Central Bohemia next week. Farmers expect average yields this year. In cereals they presume a hectare yield about 4.8 tonnes which would be similar as last year. A directress of the Regional Agrarian Chamber Zlata Koukolíčková said to ČTK today. “Since the spring the rainfalls were weak, there were only thunderstorms but nor area precipitation”, Koukolíčková pointed out. Owing to drought, cereals have fewer offshoots which decreases the yield. Late frosts, which caused damages to fruit-growers and vine-growers, vice versa did not mind to cereals.
EU budget by 2020
The European Union introduced a draft budget of the EU for the period 2014 - 2020; there should not be any revolutionary changes in agriculture policy financing. After 2013, there should not happen any fundamental radical change in the EU agricultural policy, Dr. Klaus-Dieter Borchardt from the European Commission emphasized on the occasion of German Farmers Day which took place in German Koblenz. Proposals of the EU budget for 2014 - 2020 approved by the Commission mean a far-reaching financial stability for the agricultural policy.
Bacterias found out in packaged water Aquila Aqualinea are not pathogenic
The National Referential Laboratory for E.coli and Shigella of the State Health Institute in Prague finished a laboratory analysis of bacteria Escherichia coli today which the State Agricultural and Food Inspection detected within a formal check in packaged water with a trade name „Aquila Aqualinea“ in the charge with the expiration date till 20.5.2012. According to results of laboratory tests, the found strain of E. coli do not represent an acute risk. So, it is neither dealt with a shiga-toxin produced by E. coli (STEC) nor a serotype of E. coli O104 : H4 which is according to the present pieces of knowledge responsible for the recent epidemic in Germany.
Rain slows down harvest of winter wheat in USA
A price increase was recorded during yesterday by the most active futures wheat contract on the stock exchange Chicago Board of Trade. The cause was speculations according to which rainy weather reigning in the area of Great Plains in the United States will delay ongoing harvest at this time. In following two days, owing to coming storms in some parts of Kansas, which is the biggest growing area of winter wheat in the USA, should rain as many as 3.8 centimeters of water.
