Senators approved with one voice amendment on wastes

The Senate supported a proposal by the Minister of Environment Tomáš Chalupa and approved an amendment of the car wrecks law. The amendment will enable one-off transfer of money into the programme Green to savings,which got in eight-milliard deficit in the autumn last year. Thanks to the amendment, 1.5 milliard crowns will be added in at this year end. “The unequivocal approval of the novel by the Senate is a further step to solution of situation in the programme Green to savings. Moreover, it is important that despite all these changes we will be able, also in the future, to solve a car wreck liquidation including a system which will be more efficient and motivational than till this time”, the Minister Tomáš Chalupa tells.

Cutting and protests continue in Šumava; other legal action against park was brought

“Cutting and removal of bark from spruces attacked with wood engraver continue in Šumava locality Na Ztraceném near Modrava. Also the police are on the place. In protest against activists and to support the park, a medical woman from south Bohemian started a hunger-strike. Ecologists brought other action against the National Park administration”, spokesmen of the activists and the park said to ČTK today. “Reputedly, a full number of workers is in the locality - 50 woodcutters and 40 people who remove the bark”, Pavel Pechoušek, the Park spokesman told.

End of Czech potatoes? Imported win

Low buy-out prices, growing import and still lower and lower consumption. According to potatoes producers and representatives off the Agrarian Chamber, these are the main reasons why Czech farmers stop to grow this traditional crop on their field. And Vysočina, always a cape of inland potato growing is not an exception, unfortunately. Farmers met at the ninth year of Potatoes Growing Days in Oudoleň in the region Havlíčkův Brod on Tuesday. According to them, the crop will be good, however, buy-out prices decrease. Obviously, Czech potatoes growing will experience other bad year.

According to UNO, famine state holds already in five parts of Somalia

The United Nation Organization has marked other three localities in Somalia as famine areas. According to an agency AP it is dealt with a region Middle Shabelle, facility for refugees in a locality Afgoye and camps with Somali refugees in the city Mogadishu. So, the number of famine areas in impoverished east-African country increased to five. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on the UNO, the famine will have likely spread to the whole south of the country in other six weeks.
