Russia fears no more; it cancels restrictions for import of European vegetable

Russia cancels from the 9th August all restrictions for all vegetable imports from the European Union imposed at June beginning owing to fears from a spread of dangerous enteric bacteria E. coli. Russian agencies announced it today referring to the main hygienist Gennadij Oniscenko according to who the danger of infection has passed away. Originally the ban related only to Spain and Germany where the enteric bacteria rages the most, however, on the 2nd June Moscow enlarged the restriction to the entire European Union. The infection has requested at least 49 lives and hundreds of people fell ill. According to Brussels the ban extent was unsubstantiated and inappropriate, inconsistent with WTO rules. Then, Russia at a summit on the 10th June agreed with cancellation of the ban when it obtains certificates of unobjectionability.

New preparations in system of protection of fruit against fungal diseases

Recently we have been applied ourselves much to testing of alternative fungicides for protection of fruits against fungal diseases. Especially we focused on protection of apple trees against scrubby fruits. Results are very good and offer a possibility of much more enlargement of the tested means in protection of orchards, both in organic and integrated production. Besides cupric preparations (preferentially on base of hydroxide of copper) and preparations on base of moistenable sulphur, a decisive component of system was other three preparations Alginure®, calcareous polysulphide, VitiSan. These preparations are determined not only for ecological production but they are widely applicable also in IP. Therefore I would like to apply myself more to their mechanism of effect and the way of use.

State lost legal proceeding about EU regulations with cheese producer

The biggest molten cheese producer in the Czech Republic, Hodonín company TPK, succeeded after fife years in an argument with the Czech Republic about a high fine for a breach of European rules within cheese production. The Supreme Administrative Court cancelled a verdict according to which the producer from Hodonín, delivering e.g. the cheese Apetito on the market, was obliged to pay over 730 thousand crowns for that within cheese production it used casein without the state´s permission for half year. Casein is the main protein contained in milk. Its share in milk of farm animals amounts about to 80 % of all proteins. Casein is sometimes for economic and technological reasons used to replace a part of milk - for example just in production of the molten cheeses.

Unfavourable development in animal production persists

A significant year-on-year fall was recorded in poultry meat (by as many as 11.7 %); pig meat production decreased less (by 1.9 %) and also of beef meat (by 3.3 %). The meat production in the Czech Republic in the second quarter amounted to 128.9 thousand tones and was by 5.6 percents lower than in the same period last year.
