Hop growers started to harvest excellent crop, however, part will go to waste

In Žatec region, hop harvest started today. Growers praise this year´s hop quality and speak about one of the best harvest over last years. At the same time they expect sale problems. A price of the commodity decreases often under level of production costs, so, obviously, a part of crop will go to waste. In case of some hop-growers, prices will not earn for the harvest. In Stekník, one of centers of Czech hop-growing not only growers themselves but also 90 brigade-workers will join in the harvest. They can expect a paradoxical month.

SZIF paid off more than 13 milliard CZK to farmers over 1st half a year

The State Agricultural Intervention Fund (SZIF) paid off a sum of 13 130 344 thousand CZK to farmers in the 1st half a year 2011. Of this volume, 4 741 386 thousands CZK is from the state budget, the rest 8 388 958 thousand CZK is from the European Union. SZIF supposes that it will have paid off 37 milliard crowns in total by the year end which will be roughly by two milliard crowns more than last year. In the framework of Common Agricultural Policy, there are many endowment programmes which help farmers in the CR.

Thieves steal potatoes and poppy seeds from fields in Vysočina, but in small amount

Sometimes, potatoes and poppy seeds disappear from fields in Vysočina. According to farmers addressed by ČTK, it is dealt with a smaller amount for which it doesn´t pay off to call the police or to secure guarding of the fields. According to them, crops grown in the region are not much interesting for thieves owing to their low price on the market. In the country, mainly oil, spare parts of agricultural machines and wood from forests are stolen. Also growers in vineyard under a castle Sádek in Třebíč region, the only one in the area, have to guard against thieves.

Can milk products partially contribute to solution of global increase in diabetes

A complex mapping of share of milk products in decrease of blood sugar level is the actual priority of American Dairy Research Institute. According to American analysis published in a scientific journal Lancet, a number of people suffering from diabetes in the world-wide scale increases. Between 1980 and 2008, a number of these people more than doubled. There are indications that consummation of milk and milk products correlates with a lower risk of occurrence cardiovascular diseases or diabetes type 2, and it shares also in decrease of blood pressure in adults.
