UNO agency for nutrition in Roma about famine prevention

Investments in the area of agriculture and infrastructure should prevent other famines and crises similar to those which now torment east Africa. Representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UNO declared it at an extraordinary meeting in Roma. The y asked international communities to concentrate on a longer-term solution and not respond only to actual needs of starving East-Africans.

Almost 30 pct of Czech shop sometimes on farmer markets

Almost 30 percents of Czech population shop sometimes on farmer markets, four percents of this do it very often. It results from results of a research published by a company STEM/MARK today. Farmer markets, on which farmers or small-scale food producers offer their products, are popular and its number still increases since the last year in the Czech Republic. According to market databases on an information portal Bio-info.cz, more than 130 take place with various regularity.

Competition Regional food award 99 new products from almost eight hundred fighting for mark this year

99 products succeeded in a competition Regional food this year. They obtained the right to use a logo Regional food for four years. A number of awarded products and competition categories increased against the last year. Producers from Zlín and South-Moravian regions were the most interested in the competition; as regards branches, the most occupied category was meat and milk products.

Czech vine-grower number one of Miroslav Volařík from Mikulov this year

This year´s tenth year of a competition Makro Vinař roku (Markro Vine-grower of the year) has its winner. It is Miroslav Volařík from Mikulov. The winning vine farm manages fifteen vineyards in total of the total acreage 68 hectares. Most of them lie on warm slopes of Pálava hills in south of Moravia. Eight vine farms tangled in the closest finale. This year, vine-growers registered almost 530 samples of wines. The second place was conquered by Vinařství Kosík from Tvrdonice. The bronze medal was gained by a firm Vinselekt Michlovský from Rakvice.
