ČSOP built four new curative aviaries for injured birds thanks to support of Lesy ČR

In a rescue station in Pátek near Poděbrady in the district Nymburk in the region Central Bohemia, operated by the Czech Conservationists Union (ČSOP), it was possible thanks to financial support of Lesy České Republiky, s.p. (LČR) to build four new curative aviaries. Immediately after finish they were occupied by new bird patients - a young goshawk female, two white storks and a couple of barn owl. The rescue station in Pátek adopted in total 1 073 animal patients representing 100 species of animals last year! The building of new curative facilities supported by Lesy ČR was essential with respect to still growing amount of injured birds.

Farmers have harvested almost 80 pct of cereals; rape harvest finishes

Farmers have harvested more than 79 percent of areas under cereals. Rape harvest already finishes. Roughly 2,5 percents of this oil plant remain on fields. Average yields per hectare of cereals and rape are higher than last year; it results from data published by the Ministry of Agriculture (MZe) on their web sites today. The president of Agrarian Chamber Jan Veleba stated that the harvest is “very good, not only in cereals”. According to Veleba, the July estimation made by the Czech Statistic Office will be exceeded. It supposed that the harvest of basic cereals will increase by 6.4 percents.

Prices of commodities on Commodity Exchange Brno are unstable and fluctuate

Prices of commodities on Commodity Exchange Brno are unstable and fluctuate. In somecereals they have changed by more than ten percents in two last weeks. Especially a price of feeding barley and wheat has decreased. Feeding wheat costs 3 478 crowns for tonne in case that a transport is paid by a buyer. It results from information provided by the Corn Exchange Brno to ČTK. According its secretary Karel Zuzela, only on base of finishing harvest basic prices of trading are determined. The price fluctuation is caused above all by various quality of grain which is connected with the time of harvest and necessity of often additional drying.

Crop will be excellent; potatoes in shops cheapen

Czech growers expect an excellent potatoes harvest. Despite the fact that still most of the crop is under ground, it is already clear now that amount of potatoes will be bigger than last year. The buy-out price of potatoes decreased, so, shopping people could pay less. “Last year, the farmer price was very favourable at a level around 5 to 5.50 CZK for kilogram. This year, the farmer price is lower and moves around three crowns for kilogram”, Josef Králíček, a secretary of the Central Potato Growing Union of the CR states.
