Month of bio-foods presents quality foods

Which are the rules for ecological farmers and bio-food production? How do ecological economy and offer of its products develop? What does a motto of this year´s Month of bio-foods „We mark quality“ mean and what all does this year´s 7th year offer? Answers are brought by a traditional actions announced always in September by the Ministry of Agriculture. In frame of the motto of this zear „We mark quality“ we will show that the systemof checks of ecological farmers and bio-products represents a guarantee of quality, of a way of plant growing and animal breeding.

Vinegrowers fight for crop with starlings

Grape crop ripens in south Moravia. Vine-yards are guarded against starlings and thieves by watchmen, so called „hotars“ who are allowed to use a weapon to chase away starlings. By this way, according to estimation of the Vine-growing Union, as many as a third of vineyards area is protected. According to a secretary of the Vine-Growing Union, vinegrowers do not get by the watchmen. In the past, they used state subsidies to hire them; now they have to finance the works themselves. For example Zemědělské družstvo Sedlec near Mikulov has to pay for more than two month of guarding of 120 hectares of vineyards about 400 000 crowns.

Eurorepresentatives want to give millions for treatment of animals with homeopathic drugs

Farm animals such as cows and sheep will be perhaps cured with homeopathic drugs. Eurorepresentatives wants to give two million euros, roughly 48 million CYK, for a research of use of this curative method in agriculture. However, some lawmakers consider this proposal as „absolute madness“. The proposal for money allotment was approved two days ago in the agricultural committee of the European Parliament as an amendment to an Union budget draft. British Eurorepresentatives from the European Conservative and Reform Group (ECR), in which also ODS belongs, warned about it.

Over 400 000 trees will be planted out in Šumava park

Other 400 000 trees, mostly beeches and firs, will be planted out in Šumava National Park in the autumn. It is by 100 000 seedling more than in the spring. In total this year roughly the same amount as last year will be planted out, however, against 2099 it is still more than twice the amount. The predominant part of seedlings is grown in own forest nurseries, with regard to their increased need a part has to be purchased, Petr Kahuda from a department of care for ecosystems.
