Mushroom-picking lovers expect exhibitions

Mushroom-picking lovers in Vysočina expect mushroom exhibitions and mycological consultations in the autumn. The Muzeum Vysočiny in Havlíčkův Brod will belong to mushrooms already this week and another mushroom exhibition is planned a bit later in Jihlava. Also Podzimní slavnost (Autumn festival) which takes place on the 17th September in Krátká in Žďár region has mushrooms also on the programme. Preparations in Havlíčkův Brod are complicated by the fact that mushrooms almost do not grow at present. Nevertheless, the exhibition will take place at any case, Jiří Pejchal from a local mycological association.

Buy-out shops take apples and dog-roses, however, people do not much pick them

Who has a pile of fallen apples on a garden or has bushes fruited with dog-roses has a chance to convert them into money. Both are now purchased by buy-out shops all over the south Moravia. People can take over fresh dog-roses for example in a firm Ovo-Imont in Brno which has buy-out shops in Brno-Slatina, Zastávka u Brna, and in Znojmo. “Fruits will be frozen and carried in Germany where they make excellent jam. They produce it already for hundred years according a secret recipe. Then, we sell the jam in our villages”, a co-owner of Brno firm Ovo-Imont Lubomír Tyc described further dog-rose fate.

Number of eco-farms increases in CR; it already exceeded 4000

A number of ecological farmers in the Czech Republic exceeded a border of four thousands this year in September when 4022 farmers managed according to rules of ecological agriculture. At the beginning of this year the number was 3517. Already the last year the number of eco-farmers increased almost by one third. Data on the occasion of opening the action September - Month of bio-foods were published by the Ministry of Agriculture. An area of land managed according to rules of ecological agriculture increased from 448 202 hectares at beginning of this year to 483 176 hectares at August end. A share of ecological agriculture on the total acreage of agricultural land grew from 10.55 percent in January to 11.4 percents.

Bee-keepers in Vysočina throw tonnes of honey in flames; bees and bee-hives burn

Bee colonies of breeders in Havlíčkův Brod and Ždár regions end in flames owing to bee plague. It can not be done anything else against this infection. Moreover, this year the plague affected the most bee-keepers over the last years. Hereat, the state will compensate damages only partially. For Jaroslav Pospíchal it was a sorrowful weekend. The bee-keeper from Vrbice near Leština u Světlé had to burn his 44 bee colonies, be-hives and all equipment. His breeding was attacted by the bee plague. This cruel fate met already eight bee-keepers in Vysočina this year. “We built everything newly. We have operated it already for several years and now this. Our feelings are bad”, his wife Jaroslava told for Czech radio Region.
