Vine-growers expect grape depreciation

Vinné sklepy Valtice starts grape harvest by picking of Moravian muscat. Warm and sunny weather in August and at the beginning of September promises a good year to vine-growers. And what about grape redemption prices? According to some they will be lower. “It shows that the prices will be roughly at the last year´s level. However, in grapes for production of high-quality wine they should be lower because otherwise wine will be hardly saleable”, a director of Vinné sklepy Valtice Marek Šťastný warned. Smaller growers now with close attention look for a price list with redemption prices from the biggest customer in Břeclav region - Bibia in Velké Pavlovice. It has not been available yet yesterday. The level which Vinium will set up will be obviously decisive also for other viticultural firms.

More expensive milk from rarmers decreases dairy works´ profits

A more expensive purchase of milk decreases profits to dairy works in the Czech Republic. According to their representatives, owing to a pressure of shops, it is not possible to projects successfully higher costs into consumer prices of milk products. A chairman of the Czech-Moravian Dairy Union Jiří Kopáček told it at a press conference to Saturday´s Dairy Day in Přibyslav. “At average it is possible to suppose that increase in milk product prices increased year-on-yearly by four to five percents”, Kopáček said to ČTK. For example in milk, it projects in the price of product by 70 to 80 percents. According to Kopáček, also other production costs increased. “Processors pay this difference from they own”, he told. Further development will be influenced by negotiation of dairy works with tradesmen; large producers have a better chance to succeed.

Chamber of Deputies enabled breeders domestic slaughters

Deputies decided today that breeders will be allowed to slaughter on their farms cattle younger two years and also deer game from a farm breeding. The Chamber of Deputies voted down the Senate which wanted to leave out this possibility from an amendment of veterinary law. Senators were concerned mainly about hygiene risks. Now, the president of republic will get the law to sign. According to the new law version, a breeder will have to announce every domestic slaughter of cattle and deer game seven days in advance to the regional veterinary administration. A representative of senators and opponents of domestic slaughters Josef Řihák (ČSSD) said to representatives today that there are many reasons why not to allow these slaughters.
