MZe wants to increase checks in animal farms in mountain areas

The MInistry of Agriculture (MZe) wants to increase a check system of breeding intensity on animal farms in mountain and less favourable areas. Farmers in these areas are provided with special payments. The MZe proposal prolonging a checking period from the present one to three months will be negotiated by the government. Till this time, farmers were checked by the State Agricultural Intervention Fund (SZIF) always to the 31st of July. The proposal supposes the check in so called checking period from the 1st of June to the 31st of August. SZIF will check farmers during three-month period every day by an inquiry in a database.

Rape production in EU will decrease to four-year minimum next year

Next year, rape production in European Union countries will decrease to four-year minimum and will move about 18.7 million tonnes. German analytic company Oil World predicted it today. According to it, the Union will be dependent more on import, mainly from Ukraine, Australia and Canada. This year´s rape harvest reached roughly 20.3 million tonnes. Oil World supposes that against this year´s harvest the rape production will decrease almost by eight percents in the next season.

Pilsen farmer markets will in token of apples

Next Pilsen farmer markets takes place on the 17th of September 2011. They will be located again on the traditional place - a courtyard of the hotel Gondola (Pallova 12, at Mlýnská strouha, Plzeň) and on Pallova street from 8 till 13 o´clock. They are organized by a civil association ENVIC in cooperation with the hotel Gondola. Pilsen farmer markets are a part of project Pilsen 2015(www.plzen2015.cz). This year´s harvest of apples will be the second lowest over last 15 years. The Fruit-Growing Union supposes that fruit-growers will harvest by a fifth less than the last year.

In south Moravia, there will be more apples than elsewhere in CR, weather spared them

Fruit-growers in the south Moravia are better off with apple crop than their colleagues mainly in Bohemia; spring frosts did not afflict fruit trees so much. The apple harvest is now high in the region; farmers expect average yields. ČTK was told it by addressed farmers. However, generally it will be obviously the worst apple crop since the 1980´s in the Czech Republic. According to estimations, fruit-growers will harvest only a part of long-term average. The bad crop was caused especially May frosts.
