Andrej Babiš buys UNILES

Agrofert of Andrej Babiš entered according to information of the server ihned.cz in a forestry company UNILES. Andrej Babiš so continues in this year´s gaining an influence on forestry sector. Besides a company WOTAN providing complex forestry service, also Forest Gamp - a smaller firm dealing mainly with processing of timber harvest remains - belongs already in the group Agrofert, “I feel the sector as risky, of course, when all enterprise is about raw materials and at our country most raw material in forestry is owned by the state. But, it is a challenge, a new sector. I am curious how it will come out, whether Lesy ČR will destroy most of Czech firms or a stabilization will happen where everyone will get a bit to “eat” and will survive”, Andrej Babiš told in a summer online interview for ihned.cz.

Fish breeding should be source of healthy and quality foods for EU inhabitants

To share knowledge and to solve common problems of carp breeding in the European Union - that was the aim of an international conference Kapr 2011 which took place in a half of September on Polish Kazimierz Dolny. The meeting under the auspices of Polish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Marek Sawicki was participated by more than 200 experts from European countries. The Czech Republic was represented at the conference by Rybářské sdružení České republiky (Fishing Association of the Czech Republic) and the Deputy Minister of AgricultureJuraj Chmiel who informed the participants that the CR strives in the long term for more considerable support to inland aquaculture within the EU.

Number of pigs bred in south Moravia decreased by 23.7 pct

To August beginning, 221 328 pieces of pigs were raised in South-Moravian region which is by 23.7 percents less than in the same region last year. The Czech Statistic Office (CSO) stated it. According to it an year-on-year fall in big breeding in south Moravia ws the biggest in inter-regional comparison. A decrease in numbers was recorded in all regions except the region Liberec and Ústí. In spite of the decrease in number of bred pigs South-Moravian region registers the third biggest pig farms in inter-regional comparison. The first place belongs to Central-Bohemian region including the City Prague followed by the Region Vysočina.

This year´s grape crop looks promising; vine-growers started to harvest

This year´s grape crop looks very promising. Exemplary bunches of grapes, what have not been seen for ages, ripen on vine yards. Wine which will be produced from this year´s harvest should be quality and also the crop will be obviously excellent. Vine-growers started to harvest fully this week. A secretary of the Vine-grower Union Martin Potůček said it to ČTK. “It is very good. Only aids escape a bit owing to warmth, but it can be managed technologically”, Půček told. According to him, moulds and other diseases avoided vineyards this year. Weather is favourable for vine-growers. Since August, warm is practically almost continuous which is good for grape ripening. It increases their sugar content, too. “The weather is absolutely perfect, as it should be”, Půček relishes.
