Bendl: Owing to reform farmers are under threat of milliard loss in takings

A proposal of the European Commission from its plans for a reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, so that farmers will not managed seven percents of land, would mean for Czech farmers a los in taking in amount of four to five milliard crowns yearly. The Minister of Agriculture Petr Bendl said it in Luxembourg today. Nevertheless he warned that it is a rough estimation. “If seven percent of parcels give to rest, it would mean a los in taking somewhere between four and five milliard crowns”, Bendl said to ČTK and Český rozhlas. In his opinion, farmers with the highest yields would be affected the most, however, impacts would differ according to regions. The value of Czech agriculture production in the going basic prices moved around 100 milliard crowns in last two years.

Prague fears disadvantaged conditions for Czech egg producers in EU

Today, the European threatened with legal steps to states of the European Union which will not meet norms concerning cages for laying hens. Also the Czech Republic calls for hard Brussels intervention towards such countries. According to it there is a threat for Czech breeders of disadvantaged condition against the competition. “Costs connected with a duty, which the instruction imposes, raise the price of eggs and it would not happen in other competitors. An import in such a case would liquidate Czech poultry breeders”, the Minister of Agriculture Petr Bendl pointed out. The problem is connected with rules on which the Union agreed already in 1999 and the amendment will come in force from the begging of year. Most of Czech farmers has already introduced the rules for improvement of life conditions of laying hens which meant for them considerable investments.

French butter was expired, but that is not all

The Regional Veterinary Administration (RVA) for the region Ústí did not allow in the market network a delivery of five tonnes of frozen butter originating from France because it was expired and rancid. A delivery of 5000 kg of frozen butter originating from France was delivered in the CR on the 21st of September 2011. RVA for the region Ústí found out within the check in the place of determination that it is dealt with goods expired. Such goods must not be determined for human nutrition because such a food is not considered as safe in accordance with regulations of the European Parliament and the EU Council No. 178/2002. Moreover, official samples were taken which proved exceeding of peroxide number (the limit 0.3 mekv O2/kg, measured values 0,55 mekv O2/kg).

Ketchup from partially rotten tomatoes and even completely without them found out in test

Ketchup producers replace often tomatoes for carrot or onion. If they use tomatoes, so they are usually partially rotten or mouldy. A journal dTest, which tested in total 22 different ketchups, informed on it. Besides mycotoxines which show a use of rotten tomatoes, inspectors found even also pesticides in some flavour additives. The detected substances which serves for insects eradication in nine cases. The mycotoxines themselves were recorded in all tested products. “Although it was dealt only with a trace amount of various kinds of mycotoxines, they testify to the fact that producers do not often care about the raw material quality”, Ida Rozová, a chief editor of the journal, comment the result.
