Profit in agriculture could exceed 10 milliards this year

An economy result of Czech farmers could be certainly better, thanks to a hood harvest and favourable prices of commodities than last year, a secretary of the Agricultural Union of the CR Martin Pýcha told. “Certainly, the situation will be better than the last year”, Pýcha told. According to him, despite a certain after-harvest decrease above all good purchase prices of plant commodities help farmers. “I afford to estimate that the profit could move roughly above ten milliards”, he remarked. Vice versa, farmers are still dissatisfied with prices of animal production which in spite of a slight growth are still lower and lower before the CR accession into the European Union.

Cow breeders are despite growth of milk prices on cost border

The economic situation of milk producers in the Czech Republic after two years from culminating milk crisis, when some of them poured milk on fields for protest against low buy-out prices, has improved. For one litre of milk they get at average 8.25 CZK, so by more than two crowns more than in 2009. In spite of that this price moves on the border of production costs. A secretary of the Agricultural Union of the CR Martin Pýcha told. “The price is more positive for us now certainly; however, price costs not all breeders are below 8.20 CZK, There are still farmers who are not able to cover their costs”, Pýcha stated. He added that according to official estimations of the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Information, costs for production of one litre of milk moves around 8.50

EU prolonged ban of import of sprouts

The EU surprisingly has prolonged a ban of import of some kinds of seeds from Egypt. It will not be able to import certain kinds of seeds from Egypt probably by the end of March next year. The EU has prolonged a ban of import which it had adopted in the connection of occurrence of EHEC bacteria infection. The import ban prolongation came very unexpectedly, especially regarding the fact that the EU announced in September a soon termination of trade restrictions in the connection with the fact that experts from the Food and Veterinary Office did not find any insufficiencies on an inspection way to Egypt.

Country will get 4.3 milliard crowns in the fourteenth round of applications for subsidies from Rural Development Programme

The Ministry of Agriculture enforced in negotiations with the European Union more advantageous conditions for obtaining subsidies from the Rural Development Programme. From the 25th October to the 7th November, interested people can send applications for money for reparcelling, flood-protection measures, erosion protection, investment in forests, establishment and development of rural micro-businesses, development of municipalities and other areas to the State Agricultural Intervention Fund (SZIF). Approximately 4.3 milliard crowns will be divided among selected projects in the fourteenth round of applications for subsidies from the Rural Development Programme. Roughly a third of money will go to reparcelling, flood-protection measures and erosion protection which will help to preserve Czech landscape and will contribute to clarification of proprietary relations to land. Among priorities of the Ministry of Agriculture, there is care for irreplaceable natural resources like especially agricultural land.
