Agriculture Union of CR negotiated with Minister of Agriculture Petr Bendl

On the 8th November 2011, representatives of the Agricultural Union of the Czech Republic (AU CR) met the new Minister of Agriculture Ing. Petr Bendl. The agenda contained beside official introduction of management members of the (AU CR), whose chairman is Ing. Martin Pýcha, also introduction of its activity. A detailed discussion was devoted to several current affairs, among others for example the question of state land sale, cancellation of the law on market power significance, a new proposal of civil code, and also the topic of different position of Moravia against the region Liberec in compensation of flood damages. The negotiation was evaluated from both sides as constructive.

Cioloş defends proposal of EU agricultural policy against critics

Yesterday in the European Parliament, Romanian Euro-commissioner Dacian Cioloş was criticized by Euro-representatives and some ministers of agriculture who were also present at his speech in the Agricultural Committee for proposals of reform of the EU common agricultural policy. The European Commission introduced its plan at October beginning. In June proposal of the next seven-year Union budget it counts on that expenditures for the oldest common policy of the European Union would be changed only minimally. If the state and the European Parliament approved them in the proposed form, they would reach annually 53 milliard Euros (EurActiv 30.6.2011).

Food increase inflation. Against the last year by 0,5 %

In October, consumer prices increased year-on-yearly by a half of percent point against the September state. They reached a level 2.3 percents. The information was brought by the Czech Statistic Office. According to it the month-on-month increase by 0,3 percents was caused mainly increase in prices of fruit by 7.9 %, fruit vegetable by 7.2 %, eggs by 7.7 %, chocolate and chocolate products by 2.5 %, non-chocolate confectionery by 4.4 %. Meat prices increased by 0.8 %, prices of milk by 0,7%, of oils and fats by 0,8 %. Prices of clothes increased by 1.8 % and of shoes by 2.7 %. In housing, prices of natural gas increased by 0.7 %. In transportation, prices of fuels have grown by 0.5 %. Vice versa, prices of spa stays decreased by 5.7 % and of domestic recreation stays by 6.6 %.

New pest appeared in Switzerland

In some Swiss regions, an occurrence of dangerous fruit pest Drosophila suzukii was recorded in July this year for the first time. The new fruit pest Drosophila suzukii was noted in Switzerland for the first time in July on berry plants in Tessin and Graubünden. Regarding damages caused by D. Suzukii in Italy and France in 2010, a work team was established in a research institute Agroscope Changins-Wädenswil (ACW) in this year´s spring which installed a trap and carries out a monitoring of occurrence in areas of fruit growing throughout the entire Switzerland.
