Adulterated jams from Poland

Inspectors of the State Agricultural and Food Inspection (SZPI) caught two Polish jams in market network which contain significantly less amount of fruit than declared on the package. From a sample of Danish Choice JAHODOVÝ DŽEM (strawberry jam), (340 g, DMT 20.06.2013) the analysis found out only 22.4 share of strawberries despite the package promised consumers 40 %. A product STOVIT Výběrový Meruňkový dia džem Premium (selective apricot diabetic jam) (220 g, DMT 06/05/2012, charge L11 126) was not much better off. While Polish producer indicated 50 % share of apricots, in the fact they represented only 38.1 % of the content.

Enriched cage systems for poultry breeding will bring raise in prices of Czech eggs

From 2012, classical cages will have to be replaced by so called enriched ones. Surely, it brings higher standard and comfort for poultry but also higher costs connected with its breeding. The ban of classical cages results from the instruction of the Council 74/1999 EC which sets up the minimal standards for laying hen protection. In contrast to some breeders from several EU countries, Czech hen breeders fully accept the provision and from the 1st January 2012 they will raise laying hens only in systems respecting the above mentioned regulations.

Bendl starts change deputy ministers

The start of new Minister of Agriculture Petr Bendl (ODS) brings the first change of deputy minister. The present commodity deputy minister Karel Tureček ends on the last November. From December, Jiří Mach nominated by VV party comes at the Ministry in the office of a deputy minister for research institutes and environmental policy. Petr Bendl, the Minister of Agriculture, said it to daily E15. Also the scope of employment of the present deputy minister for agricultural and fishing policy of the EU Juraj Chmiela will be partially changed. He will take over a part of commodity agenda of the deputy minister Tureček.

Lesy Slovenské republiky transfer 20 mil. Euro in state budget

An extraordinary transfer of Slovakian state forests in the state budget in amount of 20 mil. euro should cover expenditures of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the SR. Slovak Minister of Agriculture Zsolt Simon asked for increase in budgetary chapter of the Ministry. The firm expects a profit approximately10 mil. Euro towards the end of the year. So, Lesy SR will have to find possibilities how to gain about 10 mil. Euro. The firm will have to made significant cuts in expenditures. A press agent of Lesy SR Vlastimil Rezek said it to an agency SITA.
