Law on significant market power removed some negative phenomena

According to the Food Chamber, a controversial law on significant market power, which is in force since last year´s February, removed some negative phenomena which were criticized by suppliers of chain stores in the past. Reputedly, the chain stores improved so called drawback forbidden by the law and chain stores have to take care of the remaining goods themselves. A president of the Chamber, Miroslav Toman, stated it at an expert conference in Brno today. The Food Chamber criticizes regularly the behaviour of trade chains. It has already sent twenty incentives to the Antimonopoly Office (ÚOHS). The Office has started several administrative proceedings, for example with companies Tesco, Kaufland and Globus.

SZIF paid 6.5 mld. in SAPS subsidies already first day

The State Agricultural Intervention Fund started to pay SAPS subsidies today and already to the first date, almost 40 % of subsidies have been paid in the amount exceeding 6.5 mld. CZK. Till end of this year, payment of most decisions in the total amount c. 16.5 mld. CZK is planned SAPS support, so called unified payment per area is at the same time the main direct payment. This payment can be asked for by an individual of a legal entity managing agricultural land.

Growing potato areas will rather decrease next year

Growing potato area in the Czech Republic will not probably grow next year. Their growers are rather afraid of further decrease of areas. Representatives of the Central Potatoes Growing Union stated it at today´s press conference. This year, potatoes were grown excluding household and gardens on 26 450 hectares which was by 2.3 percents smaller area against 2010. The potatoes purchase prices are actually low and under the border of farmers´ production costs. According to published data of the Czech Statistical Office, 786 000 tonnes of potatoes were harvested today which year-on-yearly was almost by fifth more. However, thanks to favourable weather the very good crops together with stagnating demand for potatoes pushed down the potatoes purchase prices.

New prices of agricultural parcels for 2012

A new public notice No. 358/2011 Col. has been approved which with the effect from 1.1.2012 changes the public notice No. 412/2008 Col. on determination of a list of cadastral territories with assigned average basic prices of agricultural parcels, as subsequently amended. Actual prices over particular cadastral territories valid for 2012 are accessible as always on sites www.farmy.cz v menu “Cena půdy 2012” (price of land). There you can find also prices over the foregoing periods, prices according to BPEJ, and coefficient of price increase for particular cadastral territories.
