Government passed amendment of act for protection of animals against torture

A specification of requirements for qualification of persons who put animals to death or work with experimental animals as well as a specification of the existing legal regulation of specific measure is contained in the amendment of law for protection of animals against torture approved by the government today. Other changes in the law are new sanctions of forfeiture of animal of a ban of breeding. If it is necessary for animal protection and the think bears no delay, the amendment of law on Police of the CR enables to their members entrance to the building.

Moravian vine-growers have obviously passed the best year. They collected silver and golden medals as well as titles of absolute champions in foreign competitions. Among the best successes it is a declaration of the best Sauvignon of the competition in San Francisco from the Vinařství Líbal and the absolute victory of Vinařství Čech also with Sauvignon in Israel before Christmas. The best will probably increase prices of winning products, Pavel Krška from the National Viticultural Centre said to ČTK today. However, according to Krška, consumers don´t have to be afraid that there would be a lack of award-winning charges on the market. “Vine-growers, who enter a competition with a particular charge, has at least a thousand litres of it otherwise it will not pay off to him/her”, Krška stated. An example is according to him Sauvignon of the Vinařství Líbal which won in San Francisco. The vine-grower from Horní Dunajovice in Břeclav region had produced two and half thousands of this charge.

Test of dried hams: Good quality does not have to be expensive

Hams of Parma type placed the best in a quality evaluation of dried hams. German consumer organization Stiftung Warentest checked quality of dried sliced hams. Among winners there was also goods from chains of discount shops. Of 27 tested kinds of Schwarzwald ham (12 kinds), Parma hams (6 kinds) and Serrano hams (9 kinds), the best were of both kinds, the certified bio-products and the discount goods. Besides “very good” and “satisfactory” products, three Schwarzwald hams were evaluated only by a mark “sufficient”. All results of the test will be published in January publication of the journal “test” which the consumer organization Stiftung Warentest issues.

Wood for one billion was traded on Timber Exchange last year

Contracts almost for 953 million crowns were closed by participants of trading on the Timber Exchenge in 2011, a market with raw wood organized by the Bohemian-Moravian Commodity Exchange Kladno (ČMKBK). In a volume expression it was more than 543 thousand m3 which was the most since 2006 (almost 460 thousand m3 for three quarters billion crowns). During the last five years, trade volumes fluctuated especially in dependence on tendencies to place wood of state provenance on the transparent public market. Last year, according to aggregated statistic, 899 contracts for the total delivery 543 400 m3 of wood were closed.
