7 percents of meat products did not pass check. What producers´ sins are?

More than seven percents of meat products did not pass a check of the State Food and Agriculture Inspection without problems. Also owing to use of machine-separated meat or recorded higher activity of water. What does it mean for quality of product we buy? Food from Czech shops is health unobjectionable which is good, of course. However, facts that the quality does not go hand in hand with safety increase. For the last time, a compromise between supermarkets and producers based on (relatively) low price for (real) low quality was attacked by a report on activity of the State Agricultural and Food Inspection over the last year. “In the commodity of meat products slightly over seven percents did not satisfy in the last year”, Michal Spáčil from the State Agricultural and Food Inspection says. “However, checks focus on such type of products where there is a higher probability of objections.”

Tests revealed dangerous bacteria in chicken meat from German shops

Some chicken meat sold in German supermarkets contains dangerous bacteria resistant to antibiotics which can invoke serious health problems in people with disturbed immunity and even endanger their life. It was revealed by tests by an ecological organization BUND according to which a half of samples showed a presence of these bacteria. According to the organization it is owing to excessive use of antibiotics on farms. Hereat, German Ministress of Agriculture Ilse Aigner wants to reduce their use. Meat producers accused ecologists of spread of panics. BUND carried out 20 check tests of chicken meat sold in supermarkets and discount chains in Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Nuremberg and in surrounding of Stuttgart. “Every second sample was contaminated by germs resistant to antibiotics”, a chief of the organization Hubert Weiger stated.

Farmers achieved record profit 15 billion last year

Czech farmers managed with a record profit last year which moved around 15 billion crowns. It results from preliminary estimations of the Czech Statistic Office. If the data is confirmed, it would be dealt with the best results since 1998 from when statisticians monitor this date. The profit of Czech agriculture reached 7.7 milliard crowns last year. “Really it shows that the year 2011 was very good for farmers, both from the viewpoint of the crop itself and the level of prices which consumers pay to them”, a director of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Environment Statistics of CSO Jiří Hrbek. According to him the expected amount of economic result was influenced positively by growing orientation of Czech farmers to plant production, especially growing of basic cereals, corn, rape and sunflower.

Inspection revealed adulterated wine; Veltlín was water of three quarters

The State Agricultural and Food Inspection revealed non-quality cask wine in several wine shops in south Moravia. In one case “wine” contained even more than seventy percents of added water. The producer and seller deny mistake on their side. Perhaps the biggest shock examiners experienced in wine shop belonging to Vinařství U Kapličky in zaječí in Břeclav region and also in Prague wine shop of the same firm. The shops offered among others cask wine Grüner Veltliner from a firm Livi Dubňany. More suitable for this wine would be marking wine and water mix. According to laboratory findings it contained 73 percents of water. Such a date knocked even experienced vine-growers. “73 % addition of water? You mistake, it perhaps is not wine, it is not possible”, for example a chairman of the Vine-Growing Union of the CR Jiří Sedlo turn by head in disbelief .
