Black frosts damaged crop for millions in Olomouc region, farmers plough it under

Farmers in Olomouc region count losses. Dry winter with black frosts which affected most of the region damaged winter cereals and nor sugar beet and rape managed to settle up with the weather. Farmers in many agricultural cooperatives had to plough under and sow again thousands of hectares of wheat. Fruit-growers were lucky, frosts did not harm apples, cherries or plums.

European rape crop still decreases

Rape harvest in Europe could not fall behind only the original estimation this year; it will be even lower than in 2011. The cause is above all damages incurred by hard winter in large growing countries – Germany and France, but also production losses conditional on weather conditions in Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania.

CR zoomed in on food quality, however, MZe denies hysteria

A deputy-minister of agriculture Martin Hlaváček refused to react on comments of Polish minister Marek Sawicky about a hysteria with which the Czech Republic reputedly accepts news about dangerous Polish foods. According to the deputy-minister Czech authorities try to approach responsibly to the situation incurred.

Consumption of milk products decreased last year, people save

A milk products consumption of decreased by 3.2 percent in the Czech Republic last year. In conversion to milk, one CR inhabitant ate at average 227.6 kilograms of milk products. It results from preliminary data provided by the Czech and Moravian Dairy Association. Butter is not included.

Significantly less firms applied for tender of Lesy ČR

40 subjects applied for a billion tender of the state enterprise Lesy ČR for forest works and sale of wood for 2013 – 2017 which is less by two fifth against the last year. This year´s competition concerns roughly a fifth of territory of state forests, the last year´s one the entire area. All significant firms of Czech forestry applied for the tender
