Stabling of sows in EU since 2013

Pregnant and non-pregnant sows have to be stabled in groups in the entire EU from the 1st January- According to regulations, sows and gilts should be stabled from the 29th day of pregnancy at the latest to one week before supposed farrowing term. It does not concern only enterprises which have only less than 10 sows.

Eight foods won Regional food of Pilsen region

White yoghurt, grahamový šáteček (sweet pastry), dry pears, smoked carp, honey wine and other three foods from smaller farmers and producers were evaluated by a commission of the third year of competition Regional food of Pilsen region 2012. 63 products from 25 producers competed judged by representatives of the region, the Agrarian Chamber, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Veterinary Administration, the Food Inspection and the Local Action Group Pošumaví.

CSO: Numbers of pigs and hens in CR declined to historical minimum

Numbers of pigs in the Czech Republic have decreased by a tenth to 1.58 million pieces from the last year which is the least since 1921. Also numbers of poultry has declined, mainly of hens whose number has decreased also to a historical minimum. Vice versa, number of cattle, sheep, goats and horses has increased.

Veterinarians revealed poorly stored smoked meat products on farmer markets

The State Veterinarian Administration (SVS) revealed several offences on farmer markets throughout the Czech Republic. Josef Duben, a spokesman of SVS informed on it today. Above all it was dealt with infringement of temperature of smoked meat products and cheeses storage, but also incorrect marking of food products.

Minister Petr Bend at conference in Salzburg: Europe should invest in aquaculture

Czech Minister of Agriculture Petr Bendl participates together with his European colleagues at a conference Common Fisheries Policy: Future of aquaculture? on the 10th to 11th of May. The participants dealt with European fishery.
